Twelve people were displaced from their homes Friday after a fire damaged four apartments near Pennwood Avenue and Arville Street.

Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said firefighters responded at 1:20 p.m. to the blaze at the Woodcreek Apartments, 4485 Pennwood Ave. The two-story apartment building contains 16 apartments and Kulin said the fire started in the kitchen of one unit. The smoke and fire then spread to three other apartments, which sustained smoke and fire damage, causing the residences to be uninhabitable.

Southern Nevada Red Cross is helping 12 people displaced by the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
