An 18-year-old man shot and killed Monday night outside an apartment complex in North Las Vegas has been identified as Cornelius Young, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Police originally said he was a Henderson resident, but the coroner determined he lived in Las Vegas. Young's cause and manner of death is pending.

North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said Young was sitting in his parked car about 9:40 p.m. when someone shot him multiple times in the 3300 block of Civic Center Drive. He was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots. Police said the suspect approached the victim on foot, then fled the scene after firing the shots.

Coon said police have no suspects in custody. This is the second murder this year in North Las Vegas.
