A suspected drug dealer who has been indicted for allegedly fatally shooting a Las Vegas man and injuring his girlfriend will have his first appearance in Clark County District Court this week.

Donnell Patrick Pugh, 27, will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Thursday before Judge Douglas Herdon in connection with a shooting that killed Charles McCullough and injured Jessica Green Jan. 15 at the Evergreen Apartments in the 5400 block of West Cheyenne Avenue.

Pugh, who is being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing today in Las Vegas Justice Court.

However, that hearing was canceled because a grand jury indicted Pugh on four felony counts: murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon with substantial bodily harm, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Metro Police said when they responded to reports of gunfire Jan. 15 at the apartment complex, they found McCullough dead from multiple gunshot wounds and Green suffering from a gunshot to the foot.

According to a warrant for his arrest, Pugh previously admitted to police he was a member of the Hoover Crips and Wood street gangs, and neighbors said he allegedly had been dealing drugs from the apartment complex.

Prior to the shooting, Pugh allegedly told a family with three young children to go inside the apartment complex, the arrest warrant states. Minutes later, shots were fired, the family told police.

Authorities' preliminary investigation revealed that McCullough and an acquaintance had walked to the Evergreen Apartments to visit Green and her boyfriend, according to the arrest report.

Green and McCullough had walked back outside to the garbage area when Pugh tried to talk to Green, police said. When McCullough told her not to talk to him, Pugh allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at the two victims several times, according to the arrest warrant.

Police said Pugh and another unidentified man allegedly fled in a silver, four-door vehicle after the shooting.
