Museum lets visitors take part in reenactment of train robbery

Nevada Railroad Museum

Witness a train robbery on the Nevada Southern Railway this weekend — and you can be one of the passengers.

The Nevada Railroad Museum in Boulder City is staging its second Great Train Robbery on Saturday and Sunday. Trains depart at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Passengers will ride out to Railroad Pass with performers from a historical reenactment group called “Guns of the Round Table.” The bad guys will steal the money bag and the good guys will chase them down, said Peg Franchetti, an administrative assistant at the museum.

The museum staged its first train robbery in April, at the suggestion of the Guns of the Round Table and the Railroad Pass Casino, and Franchetti said she hopes to make the performance an annual event.

“Just have a good time,” she urged visitors, saying the action is “reasonably-priced family fun.”

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 4-11 and free for children under 4. The Nevada Railroad Museum is located at 601 Yucca St. in Boulder City.
