A week of unexpected upsets knocked two teams from the Sun's top 10 high school football rankings.

Del Sol and Faith Lutheran each lost a game that could have been considered an easy victory before kickoff, proving nothing is guaranteed on the local high-school gridiron. Cimarron-Memorial, which was expected to struggle in a rebuilding year, received more than 300 yards rushing from Christian Brown in helping dominate the line of scrimmage against Faith Lutheran.

The upsets also included Coronado shocking Basic, which remained in the top 10 at No. 9. What will this week have in store? Only time will tell.

Here is the rest of the rankings, which are complied weekly by the Sun's Ray Brewer.

2. Palo Verde (4-0)Palo Verde will have its hands full this week with a Cimarron team that is full of confidence. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday at Cimarron-Memorial.

3. Las Vegas (3-1) — The Wildcats are the best team in the state's worst large-school classification league. Still, they are in a class of their own statewide. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday against Valley.

4 Liberty (2-1)Liberty 27, Silverado 0. Enough said Up next: 7 p.m. Friday at Del Sol.

5. Foothill (4-0) — Forget the easy schedule. Connor Afoa and Co. are one of the Southeast's top teams.

6. Silverado (2-1) — Falling to score against Liberty isn't exactly an endorsement for making the top 10. Only time will tell if the 'Hawks are better than the tough 27-0 loss they endured. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday at Basic.

7. Cimarron-Memorial (2-1) — Christian Brown rushed for more than 300 yards against Faith Lutheran and the Spartans controlled the line of scrimmage in dominating for a second straight week. And, just think, everyone thought the old power was going to have a down season. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday against Palo Verde.

8. Desert Oasis (3-1) — The Diamondbacks don't play like a third-year school. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday at Spring Valley.

9. Basic (3-1)Basic's shocking and disappointing loss to Coronado last week makes this week's tilt against Silverado a must-win contest. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday against Silverado.

10. Durango (3-1) — The Trailblazers didn't play like one of the valley's best teams last week against Clark. Enough said. Up next: 7 p.m. Friday against Pahrump Valley.

OUT Del Sol (2-2) and Faith Lutheran (2-1) — Faith Lutheran couldn't match Cimarron's physical style of playing in a double-digit defeat; Del Sol took a step back in its progression with a loss at Cheyenne.
