The tough Southeast Division

Las Vegas Sun reporters Case Keefer and Ray Brewer break down high school football's tough Southeast Division. Five of the league's seven teams are part of the Sun's top-10 rankings.

Coronado High tailback Chris Johnson had four touchdowns and roughly 150 yards rushing Saturday in the Cougars’ 42-7 victory against Sunrise Mountain.

Coronado (1-1) also received a touchdown and 70 rushing yards from Taylor Holland.

The Cougars, who didn’t win a game last year in the Southeast Division, open league play Thursday against Basic — one of the league’s toughest teams.

“It is hard to get excited (about the win) when you have Basic coming up,” said Coronado coach Lance Cooper, while breaking down Basic film late Saturday night. “They are a very good football team.”
