Crash location
Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Beltway interchange has reopened after emergency crews cleared a seven-car accident that happened this morning in the south Las Vegas Valley, Nevada Highway Patrol officials said.
Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott Scrivner said the accident, which caused one car to roll over, happened at 7:42 a.m. Officials weren't sure how many people were hospitalized, but Scrivner said there were no serious injuries.
Emergency vehicles and tow trucks had blocked the northbound lanes of I-15 during rush hour this morning as they worked to clear the scene.

Thank you to the speed mongers. In a rush to get to the next red light...
Thats a straight stretch, how the hell do you pile up like that. I'm blaming some idiot on a phone, texting, or some broad putting make up on.
How do you know it wasn't some guy putting on make up?
What does a straight stretch have to do with anything? Most freeways have straight stretches with many accidents. The 215 and 15 exchange has cars constantly merging onto the freeway. And many people try to go from the onramp from 215 west to the 15 north and cut over several lanes of traffic to get to the express lanes. So it is very easy that someone cutoff someone else and caused a chain reaction. No texting, phone or makeup would need to be there to cause this. Use your brain. And Travis, we have red lights on the I15 North? Never seen those before. Guess they put them in overnight.....
vegasguy - YOU HAVE TO BE A COMPLETE MORON to get in a car accident with merging traffic. If you are not on the cell phone/texting/makeup, you are PAYING FRICKEN ATTENTION TO THE ROAD. When there are cars merging, you allow room for them to merge.
STUPID DRIVERS.
Faster traffic left lane, slower traffic far right lane.
If you think you are extra smart because you can text or talk on the phone while you drive your being stupid and putting yourself and others in danger.
Do you wonder why people look at you like an idiot when they have to pass you? There is a reason for this you know.
There seems to be a lot of small women and small minds in some big trucks on our Las Vegas roads.
Travis you are an idiot. Sevenhills you are an idiot regarding the make-up comment. Seriously?
Skid, the person in the hospital was hit by a male. HA!
LVSUN, I've seen many times woman doing makeup in the morning while driving and they swirve into other lanes, knee driving. I see it every single day.
Those white traffic cones they put between the express lane further north are a great idea. Keep stupid people in line. They should have more of them.
In vegas, people don't seem to get the idea that people merging onto the freeway have right-a-way. it's like, they see them merging, but they don't speed up or slow down or change lanes to let them in, they go just the right speed to force that person on to the shoulder, etc.
Sevenhills..shouldn't you be looking at the road and not other drivers?
Hands free cell phone law...it's just idiotic not to have one in las Vegas.
vegasguy80 and lvsunshine... i want to go to your school you guys are so smart and so wise. For you to counter everyones comments because you were there and we were not. you need to get a life when you have no clue what a joke is and what is not. You two are so uptight and ignorant.
Oh did the police release the crash information that cells were a part?
jaesun: try reading the driver's handbook: http://www.dmvnv.com/pdfforms/dlbook.pdf...
Pay particular attention to p. 26 (right of way) and p. 28 (freeway driving).
In Nevada, traffic already on the freeway has the right of way. Merging traffic must yield. Nevertheless, those already on the freeway should be alert for merging traffic and adjust their speed accordingly.
There's a lot of construction there...let's blame LV Paving :)
sevenhills, how do you know they are women?
thats because that intersection and merges are a clusterf**k!! whoever designed that area should be liable for all accidents and have to pay all victims.
ill also add that at least one of the people involved was texting and others on the damn phone.
anyone that gets into an accident, no matter how bad it is, if they are texting and driving they deserved whatever injury they got, including death.
Sevenhills the only person cited was a MALE. Imagine that.
Actually MADOGUSMC my employee was the person transported. How does the ignorance feel now?
mlaw, you drive that area of the freeway at all? get on the freeway from blue diamond and tell me how long you have, with all the other impatient dopes behind and in front of you trying to merge into one lane then merge into the right lane of traffic as the lanes no more than maybe 1/2 mile ahead shift for 1000 feet until after the sunset bridge posts and then on your right you have the entrance to the 215 maybe 1500 feet away with a bunch of people doing 75 already merging into that while people getting on from blue diamond merging left slowed down to 35mph trying to meet at 75mph that everyone else is doing. then north entrance from 215 is a disaster as a bunch of people exiting over there are merging with entering traffic and the lane shifting going on like the people cutting across 5 lanes to get to the express lanes and those shift because of the sunset bridge work.
that intersection is a disaster, from halfway between silverado exit and tropicana its a cluster mess. its decent until sahara then after that its stupid getting from the 15 to the 95 with the charelston entrance! whoever designed this area of the 15 should be arrested. oh yea, lets not forget the abundance of traffic from trop onto 15 north! and the stupid light that regulates one car at a time! yea i love it when fast turns off the lights and 100 cars bumrush the freeway while people are getting off at flamingo right there. unless you get on the 15 from silverado (to go north) and can be in the left lane the whole time you are open for disaster. dont even get me started on the southbound side im only limited to 3000 characters.
wow, they changed the law (looks like back in 2003).
