Henderson man gets 17 years in child porn case

Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 | 3:50 p.m.

A Henderson man has been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in federal prison after child pornography was found in his home.

Mark Chanley, 51, was convicted in May of receipt of child pornography and sentenced Tuesday by Senior U.S. District Judge Lloyd D. George, the Department of Justice said.

In May 2007, Henderson police recovered 512 images and 22 videos of child pornography — most of which was produced in Russia — on Chanley’s computers and compact discs at his Henderson home.

Henderson Police executed a search warrant at Chanley’s home after he sent multiple letters and pictures of young boys wearing little clothing to an inmate in a Colorado correctional facility in March, 2007, authorities said. Using the name “Marco Donaonelli Cianciulli,” Chanley told the inmate in his letters that he found the pictures online and asked the inmate if he wanted him to “download something” for him.

Chaney was an inmate in the same correctional facility and had been released two months earlier, officials said.

Authorities said Chanley also has a prior conviction in Colorado for sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy and was subject to a 15-year minimum mandatory sentence under federal law.
