LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Obama critics misplace their blame

Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 | 2:04 a.m.

Anyone who bashes President Barack Obama for the state of the economy is like a guy who smokes three packs of cigarettes a day for 30 years and then one day realizes he isn’t feeling well, so he goes to a doctor, who quickly diagnoses him with lung cancer.

He gets a second opinion and a third, but all of the doctors agree: He has cancer and needs aggressive treatment: surgery, radiation and chemo. He reluctantly agrees.

A year later, the prognosis is cautiously optimistic: The tumor is slowly shrinking, and he is making a slow recovery. But he is still undergoing treatment and feeling the side effects — nausea, fatigue, hair falling out, etc. Plus, he still craves cigarettes, which of course were strictly forbidden.

Whom does he blame for how lousy he feels? Not the cigarettes. Not himself. Not the friends who had told him, all those years, that smoking really wasn’t as bad for you as the “experts” said.

No, he blames the doctor.

  1. Interesting analogy given that Obama smokes cigarettes.

  2. Dr. C. Everett Koop, Surgeon General under Republican Demigod Ronnie Reagan, warned us that tobacco was "as addictive as Heroin or Cocaine"...
Koop issued a challenge to Americans in 1984 to "create a smoke-free society in the United States by the year 2000."

Well, what transpired in that fateful year was an addiction "substitute"... A Republican Crack Cocaine known as "Bushies"...
Right-wingers started eating these "Bushies" like CANDY, and of course, the inevitable result was an addiction unlike any we've ever known.
The PUSHERS demanded massive Corporate Welfare, took part in War-Mongering and Treasury Looting...Ran the country off a cliff!

Thank God, a Patch was developed by scrupulous Democratic Scientists,(and some gum as well) that, when worn regularly would cure these NutJobs of their cravings, OR at the least put them into a state of reduced angst & withdrawal that rendered them almost normal.
Of course, where there is a will, there is a way...
Repub's are back on the "Bushies". Rush and Hannity and all the Fox "news" heads, they're all massively addicted to Bushies, and are in TOTAL DENIAL! "OH, we can stop anytime we want...we just do it to relax!"
That's what ALL ADDICTS TELL YOU. "Not me. I'll never get hooked." "I'm careful not to take too many."
What we need is a Military Base solely dedicated to treating these "bushie" addicts; a Republican "Hazelton", where you can "take the cure".
The first step is ADMITTING YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!

  3. Enjoyed the article.

But the diehard right wingnuts won't. And they won't understand it neither.

Because in their world, Republicans will take over and then, with a magical, mystical wave of their hand, a snap of their fingers, a flourish of a cape....VOILAH!

A Republican redeemer comes along and performs a miracle. The economy immediately gets better.

But in reality, all they will do is destroy Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. They will additionally demolish the middle class as they pander to the rich and the very rich, allowing their tax cuts to continue. Not to mention the poor will get poorer; with absolutely no help; all hope in a better life completely gone. And we will end up suffering through mediochre Republican politicians who understand nothing about diplomacy to get things done; only knowing how to do easy stuff like cut taxes and start wars; thereby ensuring America is mired in even more deficits...clearly going the wrong way...towards devastation, suffering and misery...and not recovery. But meanwhile, the Republican politicians will say everything is great while they live in the lap of luxury.

Don't let them in. Slam the door in their faces in November.

  4. If Obama's the doctor then he's been feeding the patients cigarettes and chew for the last two years...

  5. Yeah - you might be right. It is really all Reid fault as Democrats have been in power for FOUR Years. Before that unemployment was very low; Las Vegas housing market was booming, etc.

Many Democrats gloss over the fact that they have been in power for four years and yeah - they have driven the car into the ditch; rolled it over; and then smashed it to bits.

Come on now - REID has destroyed Nevada job market; Obama fails to lead and is a wimp.

Yeah - Obama thinks its ok to say the dog ate his Homework.

Obama is terrible; Reid is worse; and the best is kick them both out of government as soon as possible. I am sure Obama's wife will be more than willing to travel lavishly for life at the tax payer expense. Ugh - Worst President in my life time - Obama must go.

  6. If VidiVeratas and Diamonddogg got together, would that be a "finger-licking good" combination?

  7. I really don't think President Obama's visage will appear on Mount Rushmore anytime soon.

The chances of President Bush The Lesser's unforgettable face being etched into the side of a mountain on the site of a joint U.S. Air Force/U.S. Navy active bombing practice range is more likely.
