Obama critics misplace their blame

Anyone who bashes President Barack Obama for the state of the economy is like a guy who smokes three packs of cigarettes a day for 30 years and then one day realizes he isn’t feeling well, so he goes to a doctor, who quickly diagnoses him with lung cancer.
He gets a second opinion and a third, but all of the doctors agree: He has cancer and needs aggressive treatment: surgery, radiation and chemo. He reluctantly agrees.
A year later, the prognosis is cautiously optimistic: The tumor is slowly shrinking, and he is making a slow recovery. But he is still undergoing treatment and feeling the side effects — nausea, fatigue, hair falling out, etc. Plus, he still craves cigarettes, which of course were strictly forbidden.
Whom does he blame for how lousy he feels? Not the cigarettes. Not himself. Not the friends who had told him, all those years, that smoking really wasn’t as bad for you as the “experts” said.
No, he blames the doctor.

When did we go wrong WHEN Obama, Reid and Pelosi took over Congress January 2007.
Even before that the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, failed to pass because Senator Harry Reid and Chris Dodd bottled it up.
Now Harry Reid and the White House are saying MORE REGULATION are good EXCEPT for it could severely hamper Fannie and Freddie's ability to operate. The Federal Government's Fannie and Freddie BOUGHT and SECURITIZED 60% of all those toxic mortgages stimulating banks to make poisonous loans.

Have had TOTAL control of Congress since January 2007.
That means that every budget and every law passed since January of 2007 has Barack Obama's, Harry Reid's, and Nancy Pelosi fingerprints on it.
That means that ALL budgets, appropriations, and laws governing wall street, main street, energy, lost war's in the middle east, education, welfare, social security, health insurance, auto companies, bailouts, stimulus, etc., etc., since January of 2007 has Obama's and Harry Reid's fingerprints on it.
Since then under Obama/Reid/Pelosi the deficit was $455 billion (2008), $1.400 trillion (2009), and $1.400 trillion (2010). Unemployment is close to 9.5%. Is that leadership?

We need to shift the negative job hire environment to a positive trajectory of hiring. We are talking about getting the GDP growth from a less than 2% track to a greater than durable 3.5% rate. Federal largess has done nothing to date, but Democrats have not given up on the Keynesian theory.
Obama is releasing more facts known to the WH but not us.
Looking at the numbers the 2008 Recession had bottomed and was ending before Obama took office.
The worse GDP numbers were the 4th quarter of 2008 at -6.8%. The worst Job lost was January 2009 with -779,000. FACT.
GDP improved every quarter in 2009 with the last quarter of 2009 coming in at 5%; Every 2009 Quarter after that point showed less job loss. 1st -753 k, 2nd -477 k, 3rd -261 k, 4th -90 k.
BUT a year and a quarter after Obama took office the second quarter GDP of 2010 has come in at a dismal 1.6%.
Due to TARP America was in the 2-2.5 range since May of 2009 -- BEFORE the borrowed $856 billion Stimulus started to pay out -- now we are headed for an Obama "Unusual Uncertainty" induced double dip.
So the squandered payola laden $856 billion Stimulus has not moved the GDP growth. The health insurance reform and financial reform have not moved the GDP growth.
Obama's still cleanin' up the manure after 8 years of Dubya!
Its difficult to invest in America now as a redistributionist mentallity has taken root.

Perhaps the more accurate use of the author's analogy is to say that after years of having many doctors telling you it is okay to smoke a couple of packs of cigarettes a day, you find yourself sick. You go to see Dr. Obama and he says, "Well, that Dr. Bush was an idiot. You should be smoking more than this." And so now he has upped you to four packs a day and is suggesting that if that doesn't work, we may have to go to five packs a day. But he assures you that at some point we will have you smoking enough that you will start feeling better. You just have to have faith not listen to his critics.
Obama's prescription for the patient above:
Ten packs a day and the Government will use stimulus dollars to provide them to you!

Interesting news item. John Deere has gotten out of the wind power business because it was unprofitable for them to continue. The business was bought by a company called EXELON, who had an interesting consultant a few years back when they bought a decommissioned nuclear facility - his name was Rahm Emanuel.
So now Exelon is buying up all the power sources in Illinois, iowa and Wisconsin. Monopoly anyone?
P.S. - Seems that wind power and "Green Jobs" are a bust in the private sector - what a shock in that Spain found out the same thing years ago. And Harry Reid wants to bring those losing businesses to Nevada - go get 'em Harry!

Why do the anti Obama crowd continue to say we are in a recesscion. We have had 4 straight quartes of growth in the GDP. So, unless yoiu want to re-write the definition of a recession, stop saying we are in one.
And if you want to point to Nevada's unemployment rate, then get an economy that is more diverse than 5% mining and 95% tourist based so that we don't lag the national economy. But you can't diversify Nevada unless you actually attract businesses. You can't diversify by cutting taxes below what is already the 50th in the nation when you haven't attracted businesses with the already lowest in the nation business tax burden. All you people that repeat the mantra that low taxes will attract jobs seem to ignore that is hasn't worked for the decades that Nevada has had the lowest tax burden. THe definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Try understanding what a "lagging indicator" is, and you'll understand why unemployment is low even after the recession has ended. Try looking at how employment rebounded even slower in prior recessions if you think the rebound under Obama is slow. Try understanding that until the rest of the nation's consumers are fully employed, they won't come to vegas to spend their money in the numbers required to give our unemployment in our one-horse economy any help. Try understanding that giving tax dollars back to the rich, whether by tax cuts, incentives or subsidies, hasnt' created jobs in Nevada because no one wants to invest here despite the the absence of any meaningful tax on business compared to the states where business is booming and jobs are growing.

Here are just a few of them:
Reagan cut taxes and tripled the national debt, converting the U.S. from a lending nation to a debtor nation. We've been a debtor nation ever since. Not a single Republican here can bring himself or herself to admit that. Because Reagan is one of their heroes--so it's impossible that he could have tripled the national debt. Say it ain't so!
The last three Republican presidents have run up more than three quarters of our current national debt. Not a single Republican can admit that.
We invaded Iraq in order to seize wmds. We found none. The Iraq War was thus a great "victory"--to the Republicans.
Evolution is a proven fact. However, a large percentage of Republicans refuse to admit this. They want to modify the school curricula to reflect their Christian belief.
Bush began losing the Afghan war as soon as he invaded, ignoring the previous disastrous histories of the Soviets and the Brits in Afghanistan. Not a single Republican will admit this. We are still losing that war, nine years later, now the longest in U.S. history.
The Reagan-Bush tax cut philosophy has not worked. The Republicans have had three presidencies and 20 years to prove that you can balance the budget while cutting taxes. Each Republican presidency for the last 30 years has failed at that. This is where the nation's astronomical national debt has come from. Only Reagan's former economic advisor--still a Republican--admits this. The rest of the party remains in denial and can't wait to get back into power and keep those tax cuts in place.
In short--no wonder only 9% of scientists support the Republican Party and 87% as Democrats or Independents.
No wonder not a single conservation organization supports a Republican candidate.

If Nevada "wins" its lawsuit (highly unlikely), will they have to give the money back, thereby taking away health care benefits from the people of Nevada?
