Shooting location
A man killed Monday night in a double shooting in West Las Vegas has been identified as 24-year-old Russell Bell Jr., according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.
The coroner ruled that Bell died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest during the shooting that sprayed neighboring residences and a car with bullets.
Metro Police responded at 10:22 p.m. Monday to reports of gunshots in the 1100 block of Freeman Avenue, which is near Owens Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Officers arrived to find Bell dead in the yard of a home, officials said. Another man, 25, was found in the backyard with a gunshot in the upper thigh, police said.
The second man was taken to University Medical Center in stable condition, authorities said.
Authorities said the home, neighboring homes and a vehicle also were struck by bullets. Bell lived at the home where he was found, officials said.
The victims were sitting on the side yard of the residence when a male suspect fired several shots at them, police said. No arrests have been made.
Metro's homicide and gang units responded to the shooting, Metro spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said.
Metro Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the homicide section at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
