Man dead after pickup hits guardrail

Police say he might have suffered a medical episode

Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 | 9:48 p.m.

Metro Police believe a man might have suffered a medical episode before his pickup truck crashed into a guardrail Wednesday near the Imperial Palace.

At 11:47 a.m., a 1999 Nissan Frontier traveling southbound on a road behind the casino crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a metal guardrail, according to a Metro press release. The 57-year-old driver was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators suspect the driver might have suffered a medical episode, but there has been no confirmation from the coroner’s office, police said.
