Metro Police are searching for a suspect, possibly a juvenile, who stabbed a man outside the Orleans Hotel & Casino this morning during an attempted robbery, officials said.

Metro spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said the suspect was "lying in wait" inside the victim's van in the casino's parking lot. When the victim got into his van, the suspect tried to rob him and then stabbed him once on the right side of his body shortly before 9 a.m., she said.

The suspect ran west after failing to get any money, Morgan said.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that weren't life-threatening, she said.

Witnesses told police a dark-colored sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Equinox, dropped the suspect off in the parking lot just before the incident, Morgan said. The suspect then left the scene, she said.

Police pulled over several people in their search for the man, but none turned out to be the suspect, she said.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male about 5-feet-10-inches tall wearing a blue shirt with a white shirt underneath and possibly tan pants.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
