Obama’s script predictable

Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 | 2:01 a.m.

President Barack Obama comes to town today to try to rev up the Democratic base, some of whom (shockingly) may not be as energized as they should be to turn out for Harry Reid & Co. We know what to expect from the president: Harry Reid saved the world and Nevada needs him. Indeed, Reid said on MSNBC that he saved the world, or words to that effect, giving the GOP more fodder. And his opponent, Sharron Angle, produced a brutal video welcoming Obama to the state with closed arms. Can’t wait to hear what Obama has to say about her. Anyone betting on “extreme” and/or “dangerous” being said over and over? Could be a new drinking game ...

  1. Are they taking bets on whether people in the audience will swoon or faint?

Or are they taking bets on whether the Secret Service will, once again, have to go around the area begging people to fill the seats?

  2. Obama is coming to the state to campaign for Harry Reid. What do expect him to say, Jon? Don't vote for the guy? Sharron Angle does not have extreme positions and not said very odd things? C'mon.

  3. Do you think he'll mention that Forbes Magazine ranked Nevada 28th on their list of the Best States for Business? They ranked our quality of life 47th, but we were 13th in business costs! I guess that's what we get for our allegedly business-friendly tax structure.

  4. Please, Jon, no more drinking games, I can't sober up from the current one with all the gaffes being made on both sides.

    +++++++
LOL. Actualy, I think I will participate in the drinking game only to help deal with this CRAZY mid-term season. I am at saturation point, not with alcohol, but with the non stop attack ads in the Reid-Angle race. I mute both of them, now. Enough.

  6. Businesses don't want low tax cheap stupid states, they want trained educated people.

Teaparty movement leader pastor Stephen Braden is calling for the violent overthrow of the USA government. Local hate-talker Heidi Harriss is urging her listeners to "take out the trash" (meaning our wonderfull Senate Leader Reid and President Obama)

I hope the FBI and Secret Service arrests these teanut jobs.

Austriala has 5% unemployment and more taxes and government than the USA. So the simpleton Libertarian Looney logic about: "low taxes and less government" is completely bogus. Australia recently restricted speculation in the housing market. Too bad our government didn't do that.

    More government works.

You must be crazy preaching that kind of heresy! Every one knows that government doesn't create jobs, thats just a socialist myth perpetuated by Dems to stay in power. The real answer is to give wealthy people a tax cut because we all know that they will immediately spend that money or invest it in the US to create new jobs. After all it worked with the Bush tax cuts. And everyone knows that the Clinton tax increase hurt the economy.

And Reid is part of the Mormon Mafia! I know he's evil because he has an expensive condo. And he's a Democrat too. What more proof do you need?

Angle is a good person, she is religious, and never says anything silly. Good thing all us good people agree with her position on abortion, social security, Dept of Ed etc.

I wish all these liberals like Ralston would stop boring with us with facts about what has worked in the past and what economists and scientists think. We've alreay made up our minds and thats what really counts.

It's about damn time you've seen the light, bro! You can find a pre-loaded debit card and a bowl soup right over there. :)

  9. Ralston is catching-on! He is beginning to see what's really going-on and that is a good thing. This commentary by Ralston is very good. He is right-on by asserting that all we are hearing is "extreme" and "dangerous" ad-nauseaum!
