Morning fire causes $100,000 in damage to Las Vegas home

House fire

A family’s dog and cat died this morning in a northwest Las Vegas house fire that caused about $100,000 in damage. No people were injured.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue firefighters responded at about 4:10 a.m. to the fire at 6920 Delorean Circle and put the fire out in 10 minutes, officials said. Three adults and two children lived in the home, as well as three dogs and one cat.

Fire alarms alerted the family to the fire, officials said. One of the family members, who had been asleep in a downstairs bedroom, awoke to find the side of his bed on fire. He left the home through the garage and pulled the family’s car out of the garage, investigators said.

Officials said the man parked the car in the driveway, leaving the garage door open. The draft pulled the fire into the garage from the bedroom, officials said.

The fire was ruled accidental and might have been electrical in nature, investigators said.
