Chris Marshall wouldn’t let Del Sol lose this one.

Marshall, the Dragons star junior running back, rushed for five touchdowns in a 38-20 victory over Basic.

“He has been incredible,” Del Sol coach Preston Goroff said. “He has done everything for us. He just gets it.”

Marshall carried Del Sol (5-4, 3-2) through its only rough stretch of the game. The Dragons led almost the entire way, but fell behind 20-17 to the Wolf Pack midway through the third quarter.

The Dragons were calm and went right back and scored, igniting them to score 21 unanswered points to close the game.

“We’ve just been stressing to play through adversity and we’ve done a great job of that the last three weeks,” Goroff said. “We’ve been down in all of those games and found a way to answer. That’s what we weren’t doing earlier in the season.”

Basic fell to 4-5 on the season and 1-4 in the Southeast and no longer controls its own destiny in the playoff race.
