Metro Police today released new details in a Tuesday probe at a Las Vegas medical marijuana consulting business, saying officers arrested a worker of the business and uncovered 2 pounds of marijuana.

Oganes Babakhanyan, 33, a worker at Herbal Medical Caregiver, 7624 Westcliff Drive, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Lt. Laz Chavez said police became involved after Las Vegas city officials went to the business for a licensing matter, then city officials called police.

Chavez said the business has a marijuana consultant license but police found that the business was allegedly selling marijuana to customers by using “donations.” He said different strains of marijuana were readily available at the business.

“There’s no argument here,” Chavez said. “They’ll get a consultant license and think that somehow allows them to sell marijuana.”

Chavez said the investigation is ongoing.

“As these dispensaries come to our attention, we deal with them right away,” he said.

CORRECTION: This story originally referred to Oganes Babakhanyan as the owner of Herbal Medical Caregiver based on information from police, but Babakhanyan is a worker at the location. | (November 1, 2010)
