Crash location
A 15-year-old girl was cited for drunken driving after allegedly hitting another car, leaving the scene and crashing her car into the front of a house near East Charleston Boulevard this morning, Metro Police said.
Metro spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said police received a first call at 6:56 a.m. indicating a gray Hyundai traveling eastbound on Charleston Boulevard ran a red light at Tree Line Drive and struck another vehicle before leaving the scene.
Three minutes later, Morgan said police received a second call about the same car striking the front of a house in the 200 block of Madge Lane, which is around the corner and about two blocks away from where the hit-and-run occurred.
Police apprehended the 15-year-old girl at the scene of the crash, Morgan said. She was taken to a hospital to treat facial lacerations and to obtain a blood sample to confirm that she was impaired, Morgan said.
Morgan said the girl, who was driving her mother's car, also will be charged with hit-and-run and operating a vehicle without a driver's license. Metro wasn't releasing the girl's name because of her age.
No one else was injured in the incidents, police said.
