Coroner identifies man, 35, killed in Saturday crash

Crash location

A Las Vegas man who died in a car crash Saturday morning in the eastern valley has been identified as 35-year-old Peter Cavanna, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Cavanna, who was driving a 1983 Chevrolet Cavalier, was making a left turn from northbound Palm Street to westbound Tropicana Avenue shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, Metro Police said. The intersection is just east of U.S. 95.

Police said the Chevrolet entered the path of a 2003 Kia Spectra, which was traveling east on Tropicana and struck the Cavalier on the driver’s side.

Cavanna was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Kia, 60-year-old Flordeliza Marcelo, of Henderson, wasn't injured, police said.

This is the 59th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year, police said.
