It seems we just can't get accordion these days, what with Lady Gaga and whoever else controlling the airwaves and satellite feeds. And Norwegians? Not enough of them here, despite a very popular lutefisk dinner. So let's extend a warm welcome to Lindesnes Trekkspillklubb. The Norwegian accordion group, now on its 10th American tour, has for more than 20 years been knocking out stellar Scandinavian grooves, complete with sing-alongs and spontaneous aisle dancing.
The group from Lindesnes, Norway, includes guitarists, vocalists, a washboard player and nearly two dozen accordionists. Consider them a Nordic delicacy that must be sampled. After all, the group sold out two performances at the Oslo Opera House in July.
"I don't think Las Vegas has ever seen anything like this," says Erik Pappa, president of Vegas Viking Lodge, the local Sons of Norway chapter hosting the group.
He's probably right.
