Voter registration closes Saturday

Saturday is the last day to register to vote, so the Clark County election department is holding a series of registration drives at area malls.

Officials will be stationed at the Las Vegas Outlet Center, on Las Vegas Boulevard; Boulevard Mall, on Maryland Parkway, Galleria Mall, on Sunset Road; and Meadows Mall, on Meadows Lane. They will accept applications from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Clark County Election Center will also open for special hours on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Residents with a Nevada driver’s license can also register online at the election department’s website. The process should take no more than five minutes to complete, the county said, and must be done by the end of the day on Saturday.

Applications are available at local libraries, banks and post offices. They can be individually mailed to the election department’s office, but also must be postmarked by Oct. 2.

After Oct. 2, individuals who still want to register must come to one of the election department’s offices by Oct. 12 and apply in person. The offices will have special hours throughout the 10-day grace period.
