The annual Thanksgiving retreat — making Sunday one of the year's busiest travel days as people head home — wasn't causing major headaches at McCarran International Airport.
Michael Alonzo, management analyst at McCarran, said travel operations appear to be running smoothly in Las Vegas with no reported problems causing major delays or long security lines.
Even so, Alonzo advised passengers to check flight statuses with their airlines before arriving at the airport in case of any delays or updates.
The volume of travelers moving through the airport Sunday was about the same as Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, Alonzo said.
McCarran officials expected more than 110,000 passengers Wednesday and anticipate the same amount Sunday and Monday during the peak holiday travel days.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority expected 270,000 visitors to the region this past week, a 3.4 percent increase from last year.
