North Las Vegas tree-lighting ceremony planned for Dec. 1

It’s that time of year again, so haul out the holly and bring out the mistletoe.

North Las Vegas will be lighting its Christmas tree next week, complete with a tree-lighting ceremony with Mayor Shari Buck and the city’s four council members.

At 4:30 p.m., Dec. 1, at City Hall, 2200 Civic Center Drive, the mayor will plug in the tree, kicking off the holiday season in the city. Treats and punch will be served.

Elementary school students from North Las Vegas will be singing Christmas carols at the event.

The event will be “green,” this year, according to city spokeswoman Juliet Casey, because the tree is fake and reusable.
