Four people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at the high-rise Marie Antoinette Condominiums this morning east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Clark County spokeswoman Jennifer Knight said fire crews received a call about the fire at 6:17 a.m. Due to heavy smoke, firefighters evacuated four floors of the 10-story building at 205 E. Harmon Ave., southeast of the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Koval Road.

The area has since been cleared and residents were allowed to return to their homes, Knight said.

It took 55 fire personnel about four minutes to put out the flames, Knight said. She said it appeared the fire started in a condo unit.

Two of the victims were brought to Valley Hospital and the other two were brought to University Medical Center, Knight said. AMR and MedicWest, private ambulance services, assisted at the scene, she said.

The smoke from the fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage, Knight said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Property records show the tower has 140 condominium units.
