Remains at Red Rock Canyon identified as Arizona man

Human remains found by hikers last week in the Red Rock National Conservation Area have been identified as those of 54-year-old John Rosholt, of Scottsdale, Ariz., according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The coroner has not determined the cause or manner of his death. It's also unclear when he died.

Hikers found a spine Thursday at Black Velvet Canyon near the Prince of Darkness rock climbing area, which launched a search for more remains. Other remains found nearby, however, were not human.

Police ruled out foul play, saying the remains likely had been in the remote location for years.
