A Henderson firefighter was taken to a hospital and two people were left without a home after a Friday morning townhouse fire.

The fire started shortly after 5 a.m. at 536 Sutters Mill Road, a two-story townhouse near the intersection of Sunset Road and Arroyo Grande Boulevard. When firefighters arrived, there was smoke coming out of the home’s attic vents, officials said.

It took firefighters 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. Occupants had evacuated the house by the time firefighters arrived, officials said.

The firefighter was sent to the hospital because of over-exertion and health issues, said Battalion Chief Shawn White. The firefighter’s condition wasn't known Friday morning, White said.

The loss from the fire was estimated at about $100,000, officials said -- $20,000 for items within the home and $80,000 for damage to the structure.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
