Pregnant woman stabbed
A man whose pregnant girlfriend was found stabbed to death Saturday allegedly confessed to killing her when detectives found him at his parent's house in North Las Vegas.
Eric Covington, 27, was charged with murder with a deadly weapon and robbery, according to the arrest report.
Sagittarius Gomez, 24, was found dead at 12:20 p.m. Saturday by officers dispatched to the apartment to check on her welfare, police said. She was seven months pregnant with Covington's child, who also did not survive the stabbing.
A friend contacted police because she saw blood on the apartment patio and bedroom window when she went to check on Gomez, who had failed to show up for a visitation with her two children, according to the arrest report.
When detectives made contact with Covington, he allegedly told police he killed Gomez because the two had broken up, and he didn't want another man raising his child, according to the police report.
The slaying occurred in the 6300 block of E. Sahara Ave., near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard.
