Metro Police arrested a man Wednesday in connection with eight counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of unlawful contact with a child.

David Sims, 45, was taken into custody after his girlfriend’s brother, while trying to repair Sims’ computer, discovered pornographic images of children and videos of neighborhood children on the computer in August, according to an arrest report.

Police confiscated the computer and found 58 images of child pornography, and 17 images and five videos of neighborhood children, the report said. None of the child porn included images of children in the neighborhood, police said.

On Sept. 2, police obtained a search warrant for Sims' house in the 200 block of Cervantes Street near Bruce Street and Stewart Avenue. They confiscated a computer, flash drives, digital cameras, memory cards and computer disks, an arrest report said.

The report said Sims told police he had a “healthy sexual appetite” and went through a “curious” stage regarding child pornography. The report said he also admitted to police that he videotaped girls next door and said he told the girls they were “beautiful.”

The report said children who lived next door to Sims told police he had photographed them several times from his house and watched them from his backyard on one occasion. One child told police Sims was stalking them, the report said.

Police examined Sims’ camera and found pictures of neighborhood children as well as several pictures of Barbie dolls posed in sexual positions, police said.

After interviewing the children and their parents, police took Sims into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center
