And as the race winds down …

Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 | 2 a.m.

At this point, almost nothing surprises me in the U.S. Senate race. So when I hear that mailers were being sent advising people to vote for “none of these candidates,” it was hardly shocking. The letter suggests that to answer the mudslinging between Harry Reid and Sharron Angle: “We can change that by voting for Independent candidates or ‘None of the Above.’ ” The mail piece was paid for by a group only identified as “Independent Nevadans for a New U.S. Senate.” Hmmm. I wonder ....

  1. Creepy since no organization by that name seems to exist.

  2. Harry Reid in my opinion definitely deserves to lose to Sharron Angle even though I think that Angle is extreme and way out of the mainstream because Reid literally tried to rig the 2008 Democratic primary in Obama's favor from behind the scenes about like how WWE wrestling matches are rigged from behind the scenes. This claim is extensively verified in the book "Game Change" by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin starting on page 33 and in this Podcast interview that I did:

    "Not So Wild About Harry: We speak to Political Analyst Mitch Dworkin on Sen. Harry Reid, and his overlooked involvement in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination of then Senator Barack Obama."

    Harry Reid secretly trying to rig a very important Presidential primary, intentionally lying about it to the country, and his picking a sincere but inexperienced Obama to be President (who I think is being eaten up alive right now by Rush Limbaugh, FOX News, and by other experienced Republican media professionals) are just "unforgivable sins" in my opinion. Reid just went too far and he abused his power as the Senate Majority Leader. He could easily do something like this again if he gets a blank check for another 6 year term which is why I view Sharron Angle, who would only be 1 bad Senate vote out of 100 from my standpoint, as being the lesser of two evils in the Senate when compared to Harry Reid. However the evils of both of them are so great in my opinion that having to choose between Reid and Angle is about like having to choose between whether you would rather go blind or deaf!

  3. There is something scary about Reid which has been on full display since Obama got elected. Reid has demonstrated virtual outlaw tactics in getting Obama's socialist agenda items passed. There has been vote buying and closed-door secret legislative sessions. Reid and his fellow outlaws have passed legislation in late night and weekend sessions. They have turned a deaf ear to The People and have shown their contempt for the U.S. Constitution. Their promise of "transparency" was a total lie. Their promise for "bi-partisan" governing was a lie. And he is asking for us to re-elect him?? Who could possibly vote for a legislator who displays such dictatorial, outlaw practices, while using his strong influence in the Senate to enrich himself, his family and his friends?

    While the rest of us were studying history, you apparently studied histrionics.

  5. Stop socialism: phase out social security, medicare and VA benefits, end the oil depletion allowance, the Mining Act., the Interstate Highway System, the FAA, etc.

    Oh and don't tell me VA is "different" - there is nothing in the Constitution that says Veterans get benefits. All the people who fought in the Revolutionary War got was 40 acres in Ohio and that was pretty much what everyone could get at the time.

  6. "... there is nothing in the Constitution that says Veterans get benefits." - mred

    Article 1, Section 8 has plenty to say about it.

    If nothing else, the government hires people to serve in the military. VA benefits are part of an employment contract. Congress is specifically empowered to perform that function.

    From Article 1, Section 8: http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html...
    "To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

    To provide and maintain a Navy;

    To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;"

  7. "Where is John Ensign? Where is Jim Gibbons? Where is George Bush? Where is Dick Cheney? Have you seen ANY of these people outside of a bunker this election season? Nope. Why? Because the republican teabaggers are ashamed of these idiots... The GOP is ashamed of the people it recently called heros." -- TonyCrago

    You said it, Tony. And if they somehow manage to elect Sharron Angle, she'll be in hiding for the 2012 election. Leadership is no longer a GOP attribute. If Barry Goldwater could see these people, he'd ask for asylum in the Soviet Union.
