First Lady Michelle Obama will visit Las Vegas next week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced this morning.
Sun columnist Jon Ralston first reported the visit earlier today.
Obama, who is scheduled to attend the Women's Summit 2010 in Reno on the morning of June 1, will add Las Vegas to her trip in the afternoon.
In Las Vegas, Obama and Reid will travel to the visitors center at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, where they will attend an event focusing on increasing children’s outdoor activities. Rhea Suh, assistant secretary at the Department of the Interior, and other officials will help launch the initiative, called Let’s Move Outside!, at Red Rock.
The Las Vegas event begins at 2:45 p.m. June 1.
She needs to go direct to Reno... No stops.

Ms. Obama is mistaken when she says that "healthy food does not taste good" We would love to show her just how good healthy food can be.

Personally, I think it's great that Sarah Palin and now Michelle Obama are keeping Las Vegas in the papers. We're somewhat still significant.

What I like about Michelle Obama is that she's trying to accomplish something as first lady--to improve kid's diets and discourage childhood obesity. Her garden at the White House has also encouraged others to have a home vegetable garden. I think she's a great first lady and I'll bet LV will give her an enthusiastic welcome.

You know what. She is a classy lady who is working hard to help children become healthier. Regardless of what you think of the President, she is awesome. Just like GW'yahs wife. She was a classy first lady also.

I am delighted our First Lady is visiting here. I hope she enjoys Red Rock Canyon as much as we do and her presence there is an inspiration to our children, who rank among the most obese in the country. We can use her help.

I for one will not turn out to see her. The government or the Obamas do not have the right to tell me how to eat or feed my childern. Maybe some one should ask her why her husband chooses to hang out and part with frinds instead of honoring our veterns on Memorial day. Also why was there no American Flag present the last time the great Barry spoke to the American People. I'M SO SORRY THAT I WASTED A VOTE ON THE MAN WHO WILL RUIN THE GREAT US OF A. Oh, fun. The Nevada GOoP haterade brigade is here. Well, all of those negative nellies can cry and whine and throw a fit elsewhere. The sane majority here will be glad to see First Lady Obama return to Las Vegas. Enjoy Red Rock Canyon, and perhaps take a look at our CSAs and farmers' markets showing how The Southwest really can become more sustainable. :-)
She needs to go help with the clean up in the Gulf.

Or course, back door Harry Reid will make an appearance. I want to know where all the jobs are that Reid said that stimulus created? I want to know why Reid is more worried about people who are not American citizens than struggling Americans, and particularly struggling Nevedans.
