UFC holds second Fan Expo this weekend at Mandalay Bay

Grappling tournament, professional-training sessions among list of attractions for second event

The UFC will host its second Fan Expo on Friday and Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The event is being held in conjunction with Saturday's UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The first UFC Fan Expo, which took place in July, drew between 30,000 to 50,000 fans according to UFC officials. More than 400 different exhibitors participated in the event.

UFC President Dana White will deliver a keynote speech at noon Friday.

"We've added even more cool stuff to this year's Fan Expo," White said in a statement. "Our goal was to make this Expo even bigger and better, and give our fans an experience that is second-to-none in the sports world."

The expo includes a number of signature events, including a grappling tournament and an opportunity for fans to train with professional fighters.

The grappling tournament will feature some of the top jiu-jitsu practitioners in the world, including Las Vegas resident and WEC fighter Fredson Paixao, who takes on UFC fighter Caol Uno on Saturday.

Nine professional fighters and trainers are scheduled to deliver training sessions, including Las Vegas fighters Randy Couture and Frank Mir. The sessions are designed to benefit fans from a wide range of experience.

"This is a chance for fans to learn MMA from the best," White said. "Whether you have been training for a long time or just beginning the sport, there is something for everyone at these sessions."

Tickets are available at UFCFanExpo.com. Friday tickets are $30 each, Saturday tickets are $35 and two-day passes cost $50. Those prices are down from last year's event, which were priced at $40, $45 and $65, respectively.

The third Fan Expo is scheduled to take place Aug. 27-28 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.

UFC 158
Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
