Boulder prosecutors filed theft and trespassing charges against a UNLV assistant football coach after authorities accused him of taking the wallet and gun of a strip club's bouncer.

Prosecutors filed the charges Thursday against Tyler Gregorak, who is UNLV's linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator. UNLV's athletic director asked Gregorak this week to resign.

The bouncer told police his items were taken from his car May 1, hours after he refused to allow Gregorak to enter a Boulder strip club because he appeared too intoxicated. The bouncer told police Gregorak later went to his home to apologize and return his items.

Gregorak played linebacker for the University of Colorado in 1997-99 and was linebackers coach for the University of Montana before joining UNLV.

  1. Maybe he has been listening to Obama and thought guns were illegal so the confiscation was actually a legal confiscation.

  2. This whole story is crazy. I hope this guy was drugged because if he is this stupid to put himself, his family, the new football coaching staff and the university in this position eveybody should all should be fired. You just can't do something like this.

  3. As a Montana native and a UM fan, I would just like to warn the UNLV fans that this is just the beginning of a Bobby Hauck team. I'm glad you people have him now, he can be your curse. If your program had any integrity left before he was hired, you can kiss the rest of it goodbye.

  4. Ivbuilder, you overstate the case. BH did not leave Montana under a cloud; he was not forced out, nor pressured to get out. What can you do when you're a young coach with a family, who has already proven yourself with a fantastic winning record at a lower-level school? BH is a talented coach & he did it all with good guy players and coaches, despite some off-field player problems, many of which were beyond his control.

BH is ambitious, which I think even you can relate to. Ambition is not a fault; it's a virtue, and UNLV will benefit from that. For Christ's sake, BH produced 10 players for the NFL in his 7 years at Montana! How many players did UNLV produce in that time? 5 of those players were in NFL camps this spring from his 2009 squad.

No, Ivbuilder, you're just another Hauck Hater like too many Griz fans, esp. those in Missoula, who hate him despite what he did for Montana football. I can't think of fans of any U.S. college football team who hate a winning coach, other than some of you Griz fans.
