Coroner identifies woman struck by 2 cars near Strip

Pedestrian killed

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman struck by two vehicles while crossing a street just east of the Strip last week as 35-year-old Deidra Vonetta Calvert of Miami.

Police said Calvert was hit about 6 p.m. May 6 by a pickup truck and then by a white SUV. The SUV stopped briefly but left before emergency personnel arrived, police said.

The incident happened just east of Las Vegas Boulevard on Sands Avenue between the Palazzo and Wynn Las Vegas resorts, police said. Calvert was crossing the street north to south and wasn’t in a marked crosswalk, police said.

She was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The coroner’s office said she died of multiple blunt force injuries. Her death has been ruled an accident.

Anyone with additional information about the white SUV is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Metro Detective Karl Tomaso at 828-3128.
