LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

If we are a nation of laws, we should enforce them

I often shuttle back and forth between Nevada and Arizona, and I have been reading the pros and cons as to whether Nevada should have an immigration law like the one Arizona just passed. My answer is a resounding “yes.”

I have noticed that some in Nevada say it is wrong to ask a person “for papers and/or documents,” but it appears they do not know that the law already exists. Arizona is not doing anything new. All it is doing is requiring law enforcement to actually enforce the federal laws that are on the books.

That is the law this and past administrations have been refusing to enforce for reasons that may include, but are not limited to, lobbyists, immigration rights groups, political correctness, politics, money and votes by the large Hispanic community.

The legal U.S. citizen should be outraged that the law of the land is not being enforced and insist that their lawmakers actually enforce the law since these politicians keep telling us that we are a nation of laws.
