House fire
Firefighters battled a house fire near the intersection of West Smoke Ranch Road and North Torrey Pines Drive on Wednesday that caused neighbors to be evacuated.
Mike Myers, deputy fire chief for Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, said a call came in at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday that a house in the 2500 block of Monte Carlo Drive was on fire. He said one person was inside the house when the fire started but escaped without injuries.
Parts of the house collapsed, but firefighters had contained the fire to the attic, Myers said. Two neighboring houses were evacuated as a precaution, he said.
Five engines responded to the fire.
