Dear readers,

Change is ongoing in downtown Las Vegas. I think it’s safe to say that all of us are hoping that this is just one step toward a recovering economy.

The ongoing revitalization downtown should lay the groundwork for an exciting future. New places to live, shop, work and relax are expected to give our city a shot in the arm.

A variety of projects are in full swing. Inside this section, you’ll find a progress report on Symphony Park and the estimated 10 million square feet it will encompass. It’ll be anchored by the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health as well as The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. You can also check out updates on the new City Hall and other hotel and commercial projects downtown.

Popular Realty Check columnist John Restrepo examines the future of downtown. You can catch his analysis beginning on page 6A.

You can also read about the winners of the annual NAIOP Spotlight Awards. Additionally, you’ll find guest columns from Roland Sansone of Sansone Development and Anne Johnson, a local architect.

Check back with us, too, in May. That’s when we’ll take a look at the state of the local retail market and preview the ReCON (formerly ICSC) convention.
