Hit-and-run on Spring Mountain Road injures pedestrian

Hit-and-run collision

Metro Police are trying to determine whether an impounded vehicle was tied to a hit-and-run collision that critically injured a pedestrian this morning.

Authorities responded at 1:37 a.m. to the collision on Spring Mountain Road just west of Wilmot Street, which is near the intersection of Decatur Boulevard. Police said a man was crossing Spring Mountain from south to north outside of a crosswalk.

A dark, four-door sedan was westbound on Spring Mountain in the middle travel lane and struck the pedestrian, witnesses told police. The pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Lance Voth, of Las Vegas, was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Officers later impounded a vehicle near Desert Inn Road and El Capitan Way that matched the description given in the hit-and-run crash. The vehicle is being held for testing of possible evidence.

Anyone with information about the collision or the driver is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or detectives at 828-4341.
