Alaska defenseman Ryan Turek’s goal with 11:20 remaining in the third period Saturday night gave the Aces their second straight win over the Las Vegas Wranglers.
Despite mounting another two-goal comeback, Turek’s goal past Jimmy Spratt vaulted Alaska past the Wranglers in the National Conference points standings with a 3-2 victory.
The Aces scored a goal in each of the first two periods to take a two-goal lead into the third period.
Judd Blackwater opened the game with a shorthanded goal, his 11th of the season, followed by an Anthony Peluso tally for the lead.
Las Vegas (31-28-7) scored early in the third period with a power-play goal by defenseman John Schwarz just 1:49 into the period, assisted by Mick Lawrence and Alex Bourret.
Just under four minutes later, Bourret tallied a goal of his own, his 16th of the season, assisted by Mike Madill and Adam Miller. With the assist, Miller extended his points-streak to a team-record 14th game.
Jimmy Spratt stopped 22 of 25 shots.
The Wranglers are now tied for fifth place in the conference with 69 points, equaling that of the Stockton Thunder. They resume play next Wednesday in Ontario.

Not much more to say than the POWER PLAY sucks!!!
Sat. Wranglers had 5 ON 3 AND got nothing in the net and IF I AM CORRECT IN FRIDAY NIGHTS GAME WE HAD A POWER PLAY AND DID NOT TAKE ONE SHOT.NOT ONE. Quailty shot is ther such a thing NOT Quit passing and take the shot. Alaska scored from when they were a couple feet away from the blue line because they shoot the puck at the net. We either pass pass or hold on to it at the point, don't get it, gotta get goals to win games, it only takes one goal to win. Sometimes are skates looked liked they were like cement shoes no movement just standing and watching the play develope but for the other team.
How bad do the Wranglers want it??????
Wow, you're awefully critical of the team! Sometimes in hockey you have to take a few extra passes to take a quality shot. Granted, the Aces defence is really good, and, if you noticed on our power play, they were right up on our d-men at the point preventing passes or shots and clearing the shhoting lane for the goalie to see the shooter(Aces are 7th ranked on the PK; 1st in the National Conference and our Power Play is ranked 17th out of 20 teams and dead last in the National Conference) The Aces seem to have a knack of scoring at the end of a Wranglers shift, when the players are tired, usually after an icing, when line changes are allowed. Not much you can do about that except play better D and hope the goalie bails you out. If you were paying close attention, you would have noticed that. Also, all 3 games were poorly called by the referees all weekend and the goalies need to step up. Spratt has a slow glove hand, and Gistedt has a gaping 5 hole. Also factor in that on Friday night, the team lost Mick Lawrence for the remainder of the game after his fight, and the team also had a few guys returning from San Antonio. So the team chemistry was just a bit off. It's obvious just by looking at where some pucks were or weren't passed to.
You asked how bad do the players want it? Really? You think they just show up to the rink to entertain you? They're professional atheletes, and their goal is to make it to the next level and achieve success. We as fans can only support them. Look at it this way, do people go in to your work and criticize your every action at work the next day for everyone to see? I'm gonna guess more than likely no. Ease off a bit and cheer them on. Yeah, we as fans, we're entitled to our opinion, however, we should also be the first to support them
I have to agree with barkeep on this one... everyone plays the game to win, cause i dont know who ever plays to lose?
