A woman was shot to death Friday night after she exchanged words with a man at a Las Vegas apartment, Metro Police said.
The shooting happened about 11 p.m. at the Silver Pines Apartments at 6650 East Russell Road.
Metro Lt. Wayne Holman said there had been a dispute at the apartment earlier in the evening and the suspect returned and exchanged words with the victim before the shooting.
Neither the suspect nor the victim were identified. Police were searching for the suspect.
Homicide detectives were conducting a preliminary investigation, Holman said.
Earlier this month, one person was killed and two others wounded in a shooting at the same apartment complex. Gabriel Giovanny Santa-Cruz, 26, exchanged gunfire with police and was wounded before he was arrested and charged in the shootings.

Once again the Silver Pines Methhead Apts have produced another case of violence against women. She probably asked her husband/boyfriend for some money to buy groceries for the kids and got a bullet instead. Wake up Las Vegas, the quality of people who have moved here (most likely California rejects) has destroyed the social fabric of what used to be a beautiful place in southern Nevada.
Gee, or is it "G"? As in Gangs, Guns, Gambling, and Gun Shows. What is this fetish with Las Vegas and Gun shows??
I think you would be well advised not to move into that complex
typical "anti-gun" liberal, vegasj.
ya...the gun show caused this death. not the person who made a conscious decision to go get a gun, come back, and kill that lady.
how do you know the gun used in this killing was even FROM a gun show?
it certainly doesn't say that in the article. or do you, in your infinite liberal wisdom just assume that's where the gun came from?
most likely the person that did this is a "3rd chancer" that you liberals love to keep on our streets.
Do they accept Section 8 at this complex? If so, there is your answer.
Brian D why the comment about sec 8? There are a lot of good decent people on sec 8. A lot of elderly people are using it due to being disabled and need the help.
oldwoman... Are you kidding? Section 8 = crime. Always has and always will. Elderly people have a few options. If they choose to live in a newer Section 8 neighborhood then so be it. I'm not saying the elderly or decent citizens commit the crimes. Usually they are the neighbors who are scared to death to go out and get the mail. Welfare folks have been flocking to Section 8 areas ever since the investors invaded in 2005 and weren't able to find a large population of decent renters. Just take a look at the SW Valley around Durango / 215.
Most apartment complexes have high vacancy rates and aren't too picky these days about whom they rent to. "$99 move-in specials" abound all over town!
it's really sad what has happened just in the last year in the southwest part of town.
that area around warm springs/jones and rainbow/215 was such a nice, new area around 2006 and 2007, but now it's turning into a ghetto.
shopping carts all over the place, junker cars lining every neighborhood street. really sad.
REGARDLESS of where, who, what, how, it is now kill or be killed.
BTW SmarterThanYou, I live on the east part f town and yes there are bad places ALL over Vegas, increasingly in the east. HOWEVER, there is a bad area in every town across the United States where most of the crime coagulates. So very, very sad. Areas that were once safe to walk around, you now have to duck bullets.
Hey vegasj: I own 4 guns and have a Nevada carry permit' The only thing I every shot at were paper targets at the range.
THINK BEFORE YOU POST!!!
Low income housing carrys a high price sometimes. Your life.
Hey SmarterThanYou,
Las Vegas has at least one shooting every day for the most part, which are on the east side of town 95% of the time. As for those saying crime happens everywhere, it does to a degree. Sure, there are burglaries and domestic violence/aquiantance related crimes, but random violent crimes do not happen everywhere frequently.
Interesting and we still have much less crime and shootings than that gun banners paradise of Chicago or the wonderful people's republic of Washington DC....
THE problem is not guns it is scummy people
Vegassj...Your a Nancy Polosi cronie that like a bad shopping cart you pull to the left no matter what! With that being said try to stay on subject Thamks
NOTE TO MR906: Just some points to improve your writing skills, dear:
1) "YOUR" should be spelled "YOU'RE"
2) Proper punctuation will improve the message that you are trying to write.
And, finally, take your meds BEFORE you begin writing.

I hate the grammar police. The internet is what it is..and it's definitely NOT an english class. Stop trying to correct people's posts. I'm a half smart guy and can understand what a poster is trying to say. I don't need people responding and complaining because someone didn't use a comma. I'm sure the next post will be someone correcting my post's grammar. Section 8 is still society's demise. They should keep all public assistance housing in high rises all next to each other, like New York City did...then at least then you knew where the ghetto was.
brian d, picking on grammar isn't really what it's all about, it's just another way to discredit somebody and point out how stupid they really are. it's just so funny when some idiot on here (not you) is taking him/herself way too seriously and trying to sound intelligent while at the same time butchering the english language. not to mention that one clown who always drops some inane quote to close.
...Second incident in that Apartment Complex in less than a month....
Saw the interviews of some of the neighbors and other "populace" associated w/that story on Channel 3 news this morning...not really rocket science to figure out whats going on over there,on a general basis, without getting too involved.....Job security for Metro.....
Yes, it gets worst every year
