WASHINGTON -- More candidates have filed to run in the June primary for the seat held by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid than for any statewide office in recent memory, the Secretary of State's office said today.
Today was the final day to submit candidacy papers. In the end, 24 candidates filed to run.
The long list is available here.

An exercise in futility. I see Harry unbeatable till after 2012 elections.
Agreed. And quite frankly, we'd be foolish to get rid of the most powerful senator in Congress.
Just like South Dakotans were silly to get rid of Daschle.
Harry Reid is a great Senator. Even if you dont like Healtcare reform you have to admit him taking the lead shows that he wants to work for the people rather than the others who wouldnt touch it just because it might be unpopular with the special interests who make large donations. He has my vote and I will be campaigning hard for him.
Agreed, snyderm & vc. When I first moved here last year, I wasn't so sure about Reid since I don't agree with him on everything. But in these last few months, I've really noticed how much Harry Reid cares about our state and our people. And I'm fully confident that once health care reform passes and more jobs programs come on line, that most Nevadans will come around (like I did) and send him back to Washington to keep fighting for us.
And btw, I'm keeping Harry and Landra in my thoughts and prayers. I hope she makes it.
Representative Dina Titus knows that the majority of Americans DO NOT want this health care fiasco of a bill.
Contact her and tell her you DO NOT want her to vote for the bill - and that you will oppose her in future elections.

But what if I want her to vote for the bill?
atdleft said-And I'm fully confident that once health care reform passes and more jobs programs come on line, that most Nevadans will come around-
Aren't we talking about real life and not a fairy tale? What has Reid done for us? The only thing that he is right now is a puppet.
I do hope that his wife and daughter will be okay. What a terrible thing to happen to him right now.
In a perfect world, Everyone would throw all their efforts at one Democrat besides Harry and knock him out in the primary. wouldn't that be sweet.
Voters will have six choices besides Reid and the Republican nominee--Tea Party, American Independent Party and four Independents. Do those four have a primary race or will they all be on the general election ballot? Even without the Tea Party, there would be a large third party vote. I'm surprised that no Libertarian filed.
I agree with other commenters that Reid wins on the strength of his accomplishments for Nevada. Yucca Mountain is dead and a new wind turbine plant that he attracted to southern Nevada employs 1000 people in 2011.
Everyone is lining up to challenge Harry, he's got to love that. In my opinion he's out of touch, I just hope this isn't an indication that all the hope for his seat to be succeeded by an actual representative who will further Nevada will be in naught because of dilution of opposition.
24 candidates file to battle for Harry Reid's Senate seat
What he calls his battle war chest will look like a battle war wallet. By the time we get time to really vote is a_s out of office and maybe Nevada, let him stay in DC.
: dhvincent1 you are correct I would have been next to my wife nothing would have made me move :"
Any of us can argue about how we feel about Harry Reid. But to introduce comments about his personal life, especially the accident involving his wife, is highly ironic. The complaint is that he is not caring. First, we do not know what went on. Second, he was at the hospital until midnight, reports said, and the staff sent him home.
Third, anyone who would make comments of that nature about him is not, himself or herself, a caring human being. He or she is a disgrace. It's that simple.
Harry Reid is a national disgrace. Reid and Pelosi are the reason why 93% of the American people think Congress is doing a poor job.
Harry Reid needs a retirement. Vote him out!
