Police are looking for a woman who fled the country after allegedly embezzling $500,000 from a Henderson business.

An arrest warrant charges Ronda Zamora, 42, with 32 counts of theft, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of stolen property, police said. She was living in Henderson at the time of the alleged crime.

Zamora allegedly transferred money from Silver State Refrigeration, a business she worked for, into a personal bank account each week. The owners of the business confronted her shortly after they realized the money was missing in September 2008.

The money was transferred as false paychecks, police said. The amount of money that was transferred into her account each week, as well as which account she deposited the money into, varied, police said. Zamora also changed the name she used on the checks, Henderson police said.

After she was confronted, Zamora told the owners she would go to the bank to sort out the matter. Instead, she fled to Mexico to avoid arrest, police said.

Police said they were unsure if Zamora fled by herself or with others.

Henderson police detectives said they believe Zamora might have returned to Southern Nevada or Utah.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Henderson Police Department at 267-4750.
