It was an all-star turnout for the Saturday fundraiser to help Las Vegas Tenors singer and musical conductor Bill Fayne, who faces monumental medical bills now that he’s recovering from major throat and stomach surgery. “The great news now is that he is on a course to full recovery,” said Clint Holmes, co-host of the show with wife Kelly Clinton Holmes.
I kicked off the festivities with a champagne toast, and among those taking the stage were Monte Carlo magician Lance Burton, The Mirage headliner Terry Fator, Excalibur comedian Louie Anderson, Frankie Scinta, Sandy Hackett and his Rat Pack Show from the Sahara, the Menopause: the Musical ladies at the Luxor, Tina Walsh of Phantom -- the Las Vegas Spectacular at The Venetian and Rick Faugno of Jersey Boys at the Palazzo.
Other entertainers included Domenick Allen, Leigh Zimmerman, Lena Prima, Las Vegas Tenors and Vincent Falcone. Check out my Twitter page for the video and photos I posted from the Suncoast. More than $20,000 was raised, and as of today, more donations were being received. The only hiccup was Louie Anderson winding up at South Point instead of Suncoast, so veteran Pete Barbutti filled in until he arrived. The group sang “That’s What Friends Are For” as the finale. Our Senior Editor John Katsilometes also wrote about the benefit.
*That same day, I emceed part of the St. Baldrick’s hair-shaving event to combat child cancer. Three Irish pubs -- McMullan’s, Fado and Nine Fine Irishmen -- hosted shavers and participants to raise a record $300,000-plus. This Twitter video I posted shows me persuading one bearded good guy to lose 11 years of facial growth for $2,500. Palms chefs Barry Dakake and Geno Bernardo, bartender Johnny O’Donnell and N9NE Group execs all volunteered, too. Every 15 minutes from 2 p.m. to 3 a.m., there were teams of six volunteers willing to go bald! “It was our most successful year to date,” publican Brian McMullan said.
*Porn star Joslyn James, who danced here in Las Vegas before her XXX-rated movie career, attended an Oscar party in Hollywood last night. She mingled with stars including Bo Derek, John Heard, Tom Sizemore and Gary Busey, plus 55 Playboy Playmates. Joslyn was linked with Tiger Woods in the recent sex scandals, and her lawyer Gloria Allred escorted her to the Night of 100 Stars gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
STAR SURVEILLANCE
*Actor Seth Green made it a mini-vacation weekend in Las Vegas with 16 friends, including fellow actor Breckin Meyer, to celebrate his recent engagement, his 36th birthday and his return to the hit Cartoon Network series Robot Chicken. His filming schedules had delayed every one of his plans since his birthday Feb. 8. Seth began his fun with a group dinner at Society Cafe in the Encore, and then headed over to Blush in the Wynn. He was presented with a surprise Robot Chicken birthday cake from Gimme Some Sugar Bakery, and it kept their party going until 2 a.m.
*Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester played host at Haze in MGM CityCenter’s Aria. Contributing photographer Scott Harrison was on red carpet duty when Leighton arrived with 25 guests, including two brothers and her mom, for her Good Girls Gone Bad party. She walked the carpet in a pale blue and white Herve Leger dress and Givenchy pumps, but changed into a sexier outfit for her performance, which celebrity photographer Denise Truscello captured inside the hotspot. Leighton sang Cobra Starship’s “Good Girls,” in which she’s a featured vocalist, but changed the lyrics several times, including to “Good Boys Gone Bad.” She stayed at Haze until past 3 a.m. and caught the first flight back to New York yesterday morning.
*Jackie Jackson of the Jackson 5 dined in the lounge at Lavo in the Palazzo, where Chase Daniel of the Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints had dinner before hitting the upstairs nightclub. … Actress, model and poker aficionado Shannon Elizabeth hosted a party at Pure in Caesars Palace. Dressed in jeans and a black blouse, Shannon arrived with poker player Dennis Phillips and stayed with her party until pre-dawn.
