LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Laid-off workers boost economy more than banks

Laid-off workers currently receiving unemployment insurance benefits are contributing more to our sluggish economy by spending these benefits than the banks who received $700 billion in a financial bailout from our government.

The people who are unemployed would rather work than take a government handout, but things are what they are. Members of Congress shouldn’t be playing politics with unemployment benefits for laid-off workers.
