Fatal crash
A woman who died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday after her car collided with another car on Blue Diamond Road has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 18-year-old Monica Ruiz-Mapile of Las Vegas.
The coroner’s office said Ruiz-Mapile died of blunt force trauma to the head and torso. The coroner ruled her death accidental.
Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Joseph Fackrell said Ruiz-Mapile was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 4:10 p.m. Thursday at Blue Diamond Road and South Fort Apache.
He said a man in the other car was taken to University Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Troopers are investigating the crash, but don't know which direction each vehicle was traveling, Fackrell said.

How sad. Prayers go out to the whole family
The state collected millions of dollars from the sales of the homes in the area. Plus, they continue to collect an average of $200 a month, per each house. I have lived here over 3 years paying my taxes and SID. Why is this road not a four lane highway, yet?
Mayor Goodman is busy in the bikini parade. And, Governor Gibbons can text his mistress all day long. The tax payer has to risk his/her life, while they party.
I agree lp - something has to be done to Blue Diamond... and Fast! Didn't I read somewhere it was one of the worst roadways in America?
By lp,
Are you sure the State of Nevada gets "million of dollars" from the sale of homes in that area? I wonder if it is more plausible that it is the Clark County government that is collecting your millions of dollars and $200 per month.
The money goes in the into politicians pockets. They don't live in the area why would they care?
I don't know what planet you are on lp, but the state doesn't get any of the HOA fees people pay on their homes. Where did you get such an idea? The road may be dangerous, but it's mainly because people drive too fast and don't bother to look both ways before just blindly pulling out. Stop being such a whiny cry baby. You don't live there and you don't know what happened.
This is so sad when somebody loses a loved so tragically. Monica died long before her time. May she rest in peace.
families of accident victims are really hurt by sudden death and people cannot just assume that the victim died of irresponsible driving. People should not assume the cause of death. Its not fair for a beautiful and caring person like my cousin. I know for a fact she was not on the phone or under the influence because I was with her right before the accident and her phone was dead.
rip monica, i love you.
Bookerb, you are sadly misinformed.
1. I live there
2. I am talking about property tax. The HOA is another $45 I did not bring up.
We miss and love you, Monica. May you rest in peace.
