Von Tobel Middle School

A sixth-grade girl was arrested this morning after she brought an unloaded handgun to Von Tobel Middle School in the northeast valley, police said.

Clark County School District Police Lt. Ken Young said students tipped off administrators that the girl had a gun at school. She was brought to the office at about 8:30 a.m., then officers found the unloaded .25-caliber handgun in her purse, Young said.

The girl was booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on one count of possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.

Von Tobel Middle School is located at the intersection of East Carey Avenue and North Pecos Road.
