Crash location
A motorcyclist from Colorado was critically injured Sunday evening when he collided with a vehicle that turned in front of him on North Las Vegas Boulevard, authorities said.
Metro Police responded at 6:27 p.m. to the crash at North Las Vegas Boulevard and Sloan Lane, which is adjacent to Nellis Air Force Base and southwest of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Authorities said a 2006 Chrysler 300 was northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard attempting to turn left across southbound traffic.
Michael Price, 46, of Grand Junction, Colo., was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Las Vegas Boulevard when the Chrysler turned into his path, investigators said. Price wasn't able to stop, so he laid the motorcycle down and was ejected into the Chrysler, police said.
Price was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit with critical injuries, police said. The driver of the Chrysler, Justin Sharp, 28, of Las Vegas, wasn't injured, authorities said.
Police weren't releasing information early Monday about whether charges might be filed in connection with the crash. The incident is under investigation by the Metro Accident Investigation Section.

The accident happened right in fron of Nellis AFB. Why couldn't Nellis AFB send first responders to the scene and been there within a couple of minutes, instead of waiting for the Clark County fire truck and ambulance come from Lamb and Alexander? Nellis could have stabilized the patient before the rescus crews from the county arrived. For some reason, Clark County works well with the fire depts. in the area but not Nellis. For those of us who live in the area, this seems unreasonable and puts peoples lives in danger.
@ dhvincent, not to mention the guy could have crawled to the hospital from there across the street...
Probably, but he wouldn't have gotten past security.
I don't think they should add a second race for the reason Johnson stated. Most people are from out of state who attend, and many would not be able to afford to come to another race. I'm sure many Nascar fans use it as a vacation as well.
The idiot Chrysler driver was NOT paying attention to the oncoming southbound traffic when he was trying to make his left turn. Harley's especially are not that hard to see. This is exactly how I got into my accident on my bike years ago. It's also why I gave up riding because of the fact that you are just too vulnerable to the idiot drivers out there!!
sofaking
the Nellis AFB hospital is little more than an outpatient clinic.
this man needed a level 1 trauma center. taking him to Nellis would've probably insured he died of his injuries.
