American Pie actress and pro poker player Shannon Elizabeth is the first guest participant tonight in a new standup comedy series at Palms Lounge in the Palms.
Improv comic Matt Donnelly launches his Executive Monkeys, and each Wednesday, a different star will sit for a comedic tarot reading, from which Matt’s troupe will create spontaneous sketches for the second half of the show. The first half encourages the audience to use Twitter to create characters and sketches for the comedians. Emily Gillette is one of the show’s producers.
*Mayor Oscar Goodman was honored at Hussong’s Cantina in The Shoppes at Mandalay Place with a charcoal rendering that will be placed on Hussong’s Charcoal Wall of Fame. He chatted with owners Scott Frost and Jeff Marks while enjoying his signature Bombay Sapphire martini. The presentation also served as the kick-off for Hussong’s new pricing for locals, who receive 20 percent off food with Nevada ID.
*Lovely Kamela Brewer, who appeared regularly on Sunset Tan filmed at the Palms, has launched her own mobile tanning system she says is the ultimate safe alternative to the dangers of UV rays from tanning beds and the sun. *Harrah’s headliner comedy-magician and Campfire Magic author Mac King will perform a show to benefit Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to raise funds to help send girls to Camp Foxtail for a summer camp adventure. The performance is July 24 at 5 p.m. at the Sheldon and Miriam Adelson Educational Campus. “Every kid deserves the chance to get away for the summer,” Mac said. “Camping is a magical experience, and I am happy to help provide the opportunity for some city kids to make new friends and enjoy the magic and wonder of nature for a little while.”
*The amazing dance troupe Jabbawockeez, who turned up at Blue Man Group and Peepshow on back-to-back nights, are now celebrating the news they will get a third run of their popular show at MGM Grand from Aug. 19 to 25.

*Actress Molly Ringwald celebrated the release of her book Getting the Pretty Back with a party at Lavo in the Palazzo last night. First she dined with her husband Panio Gianopoulos and two friends and then headed upstairs to the nightclub. Much of the crowd turned out dressed in pink in honor of the Pretty in Pink star, and the largest group of pink-clad women won autographed copies of the book and bottles of rose champagne. Molly, who earlier sunbathed in a Tao Beach cabana, sipped Veuve Clicquot rose champagne, posed for photos with fans and was delighted with a pink cake presented to her. *The Light Group properties were wall to wall with celebrities: Dancing With the Stars Season 1 winner Kelly Monaco of General Hospital was at The Bank in the Bellagio celebrating her birthday and also at Haze in Aria with a white and pink birthday cake shared with castmate Tyler Christopher, former Peepshow castmate Josh Strickland and reality TV gal pal Shanna Moakler. Kelly had a birthday dinner at Yellowtail in Bellagio and the next night at Union in Aria. New York Knicks star Al Harrington feasted at Fix. Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. celebrated a friend’s birthday at Gold Lounge in Aria. He also was at Liquid Pool Lounge when American Idol winner and superstar Carrie Underwood celebrated a birthday/bachelorette party and serenaded her friends.
