Crews near Pahrump battle season’s largest wildfire

About 30 firefighters today are battling the area's largest wildfire so far this year near Pahrump and State Road 160, officials said.

Kirsten Cannon, spokeswoman for the Bureau of Land Management, said the wildfire, dubbed the “Mule Springs Fire,” began about 1 p.m. and has spread to 23 acres. She said land crews, water tanks and a helicopter are working to put out the blaze.

Officials said there have been 20 wildfires so far in 2010, and the Bureau of Land Management issued fire restrictions May 15 to help prevent wildfires.
