North Las Vegas Police said today they're investigating a case in which a dead infant was taken to a hospital Saturday morning by her 16-year-old mother.
Authorities responded at 6:24 p.m. Saturday to University Medical Center's pediatric trauma unit regarding a dead infant girl. Hospital officials reported the infant was brought to the hospital at 4:40 p.m. and pronounced dead.
The infant's 16-year-old mother, a resident of North Las Vegas, brought the child to UMC, police said.
Investigators said the child was born at or near full term in a home in the 4600 block of La Madre Way during the early morning hours Saturday. The child died that morning but no medical assistance was requested until the child was driven to UMC that afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
