Matt Engle is an account executive with Cragin and Pike Insurance Agency. Before joining Cragin & Pike, Engle was area business manager for AAA of Nevada.

Jason Brooks is an investment sales and leasing associate with Gatski Commercial Real Estate Services. Before joining Gatski, Brooks worked as a title representative with First American Title.

Joel Henriod has been elected partner with Lewis and Roca. He is a member of the firm’s appelate practice group. Henriod earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University and his bachelor of arts in philosophy from the University of Utah.

Elizabeth Molchon is community bank manager for the Mutual of Omaha Bank Parkway Pointe Location at 9555 Hillwood Drive. She will oversee all retail operations at the branch. Before joining Mutual of Omaha Bank, Molchon was vice president and business development manager for BB&T Bank, formerly Colonial Bank, in Las Vegas. Before that, she was vice president and business development officer for Bank of Nevada.

Craig Meade is leadership training adviser for Rapport Leadership International.

Cathi Britz is client protection coordinator for the State Bar of Nevada. Britz was administrative assistant for the client protection and LRE (Law-Related Education) departments.

William Auerbach is sales manager for tw telecom. Before joining tw telecom, Auerbach was a senior account exective with Dell and held sales positions with NEC, Avaya and Circuit City.

Jerry Buk is southern area director of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. Buk was previously the central/northeast extension educator.

Awards

Kenneth Johnson, the Nevada Paralized Veterans of America Volunteer of the Year, was awarded the Presidential Award for Public and Community Service.

Nevada State Bank and its parent company, Zions Bancorp, were recognized in a survey conducted by Greenwich Associates for excellence among the nation’s top banks for both small business and middle market banking. The collective 17 awards include four national and two regional awards for small business, as well as nine national and two regional categories of middle market banking.

Denise Tatum, a Mandarin Chinese teacher at Cheyenne High School, received the Myra Greenspun Teacher Excellence Award from the Public Education Foundation and Myra Greenspun. Tatum received $3,000 for her classroom and a $1,000 honorarium as well as 500 points to the Public Education Foundation’s Teacher Exchange.

Corporate giving

The Engelstad Family Foundation has awarded Olive Crest Nevada a $150,000 grant to assist families in distress throughout Southern Nevada. In appreciation of the gift, the Olive Crest North Las Vegas Family to Family Resource Center will be renamed the Engelstad Family Resource Center.

Helping Hands of Henderson received $164,090 in grants: $109,590 for transportation and volunteer care services from the Nevada Aging and Disablity Services Divsion; $24,500 in capital support to purchase a new handicap accessible program van from the Henderson Community Development Block Grant; $20,000 to support program operations from Bank of America; and $10,000 to support program operations from USAA Savings Bank.

Natura Pet Products donated more than 4,000 cases of its dog and cat food to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Miscellaneous

Astellas Pharma partnered with the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation to stuff 130 backpacks with toys and camping items, design homemade pillows and write letters of encouragement for children with life-threatening illenesses. More than 1,200 Astellas employees helped.

MassMedia Corporate Communications has retained three new clients: Nevada Mutual Insurance, Cardiovascular Surgery of Southern Nevada and Vinnie Favorito.

Piercy Bowler Taylor & Kern has opened an office in Sandy, Utah.
