Henderson house fire causes $200,000 in damage, displaces 7

House fire

Seven people were displaced late Thursday after a Henderson house fire caused about $200,000 in damage.

Henderson firefighters responded at 10:14 p.m. to the fire at 2436 La Casa Drive, which is southwest of the intersection of Green Valley Parkway and Sunset Road. Firefighters arrived six minutes later to find a large amount of smoke coming from the two-story home, Battalion Chief Michael Gibson said.

He said smoke was coming from the rear of the home and the kitchen area, where the fire apparently started, with fire also extending to the second floor through the ceiling. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

No one was injured, but the home's seven occupants were displaced because of unsafe conditions until repairs are made. The Red Cross is providing help to the family.

Gibson said the fire caused about $150,000 in damage to the home and $50,000 in damage to contents. Investigators ruled the fire as accidental in nature.

Clark County firefighters also responded due to reports of smoke in the area and provided assistance, as did the Henderson Police Department, officials from the Building Department, NV Energy and Southwest Gas.
